Plug and played on my MAC tower running Leopard. I'm using this with a wireless Logitech mouse and it's not perfect. Not sure if it's the mouse or this bluetooth transmitter, but I'm getting a delay that translates to a jumpy arrow on my screen. Battery level is fine, but it feels like it's not keeping up. Just a little sluggish which is to me unacceptable. Future MACs will be bluetooth ready, but this is the best I can do with what I have.
UPDATE: Something clicked because it appears to be working fine now. Buy with confidence.
Worked fine for me. August 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I used this item and it worked GREAT. I WAS able to listen to music in A2DP in Leopard just fine. I was also able to transfer files and use my bluetooth headset on Skype.
My question to you is, why didn't you upgrade to Leopard? Tiger doesn't support A2DP in the first place...
Disappointment for mac os x (Tiger) August 6, 2008 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
I thought, "This could be exactly what I am looking for," so I called Cirago to confirm. I spoke with their Techi name L. L told me that the 6210 does support mac, and does stream a2dp. Since I have tiger, this was music to my ears, that is until it arrived. I popped it into the usb port of my powerbook g4 with a ppc processor and it started working right away. With great anticipation, I opened itunes and put on a little Buble. Uuuggghhh! It came through in HSP profile over my brand new blue tooth speakers.
Having spoken with L at Cirago and been assured that this product will do what I need it to do, I called Cirago back and spoke with C, a different guy. When I told C I was having trouble, that it was coming through in HSP and not A2DP, he was confused and said he needed to do a little research. He did call me back a few hours later to inform me that the USB dongle just piggy backs on what mac already has in the system. If the mac doesn't have a2dp, then the bta 6210 won't have it either. He said there was nothing they could do.
The guys at Cirago seem nice enough. C had a great attitude and kept making suggestions hoping he could find some way to make it work, but to no avail. Other than the product not enabling my mac running tiger to stream a2dp, it is a great piece of equipment. You windows users, and mac users running leopard and newer, will love it! Very small, very powerful transmitter. Great connection - just no a2dp profile for my mac running tiger.
If you are a mac user running tiger looking for a2dp casting, this will not work. In fact I just found out that no bluetooth dongles will work. All bluetooth dongles just piggy back on the mac operating system. So for you tiger users - you are out of luck finding a dongle that will enable a2dp streaming! It must be installed on the mac first! If you have already got it on your mac - great product!
