Travel and Recreation, Alhambra, Granada

Travel and Recreation : Alhambra, Granada, I have planned a holiday in Seville and am eager to visit the Alhambra Palace complex in Granada while I'm there. As I understand it, a 3 hour plus journey would be involved and then a specific visiting time selected.

You'll need to order tickets far in advance, via their internet site. But it's worth it. And Seville isn't too bad either. A night in Granada would be nice.

To get a sense of how it's spread out, before you visit.. Try to start early before it gets too hot. Take your time, look at everything inside the complex and try to soak it in. It's pretty amazing.

Afterwards, drift into town, get some refreshments and food and beat the heat.

Do try to take a sunset walk on the hill the east of La Alhambra- the sunset view you get is very very nice.

Alhambra (/ælˈhæmbrə/; Spanish: [aˈlambɾa]; Arabic: الْحَمْرَاء‎, [ʔælħæmˈɾˠɑːʔ], Al-Ḥamrā', lit. "the red one"),[a] the complete form of which was Calat Alhamra, is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It was originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-11th century by the Moorish emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada, who built its current palace and walls. It was converted into a royal palace in 1333 by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada.
