Laptop, dvd player, download Windows Media Player?

Q: I just got a laptop with a dvd player, but...on the box it says it does not copy commercially available dvds. I don't really care about that, but I would like to download Windows Media Player and copy songs off CD's so I can make CDs for my own personal use. Do you think I will be able to do this? I was able to do this with my old laptop.

What is the operating system on the laptop? And you are saying that the laptop doesn't include Windows Media player?

I suppose you should be able to download Windows Media player from Microsoft. If not, I'm sure there are free alternatives you can use to rip your audio CDs.

Yeah, there is decent free software that will allow you to rip audio tracks from your CD and then burn them to another CD.

CDBurnerXP should be decent enough for the job when it comes to burning the CD's. i would probably use Foobar2000 to rip the data from your original audio CD's.

just throwing out some ideas without typing too much ;)
