A patentable gps idea

A patentable gps idea.. Scenario: I pull up to a 4 way stop, after absent-mindedly assuming there's no other cars, I proceed into the intersection, only to suddenly see there's a car to my adjacent right. This has happened many times...being blocked out by my rear view mirror. Tall drivers, in whatever car, probably have the same blind spot. So, we need a 'black box' to sit next to windshield on the right to detect cars in the blind area and make a buzz. Could be done by gps maybe. Of course, it's not needed if I'm totally observant at all times, but there's many times when attention lags.

GPS wouldn't help you at all with this. This would require radar sensors, which are (to my knowledge) not in any mobile phones. However this sort of feature already exists in most luxury cars - see http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual-cars/ba/cars/c204/en/overview/fah rsysteme4.html

I went to your link. Yeah, my car has that, too, but that's only to the side and behind blind spot. I need one for in front and to the right, where a car would be at a 4 way stop, right behind yhe rear view mirror on the windshield. No car has that.

Perhaps the simpler solution would be to find a car without visual obstructions? Or to learn to move your head a few inches?

I'm guessing that driving tests are a thing of the past...
