Laptop pointer lagging?

Laptop pointer lagging / going slow. I really need help because this is annoying the hell out of me right now! When I start my laptop the pointer is moving just fine, but after 20-30 mins it starts to go slow and lags really badly. Making it difficult to use. I've updated my computer, I've made the mouse options speed faster and neither of those work. I don't know if its the hardware or software that's causing this, I just need help because it's driving me insane. My laptop is an acer with windows 8 if that helps.

I'm guessing that your laptop has a built-in trackpad or similar device. Try borrowing a regular USB mouse and see if the same thing happens with it. .

Or.. (Fist off, have you checked Acer's website if there are any trackpad driver updates for your particular laptop?) I assume that your "20-30 mins before it acts up" is after the 1st [cold] boot up of the day, right? If you reboot Win8 after it starts acting up, does it take another "20-30 mins" to act up again or does it immediately start to act up after the reboot? If it's the latter, then it may be a heat-related issue, and the trackpad's hardware is faulty.

One sure-fire way to confirm would be to install a "liveUSB" Linux distro (like Linux Mint) onto a USB flash drive and boot your laptop from that USB. If it does the same thing under Linux then you can be 100% certain it's a hardware issue.
