Looks like it could have been good January 8, 2009 Software provided won't recognize that the frame is connected. Frame itself states it is connected. Frame won't work while connected. Tried with XP and Vista. Neither worked. So far support is non existent. Have written them 3 times. Pretty bad when USB won't work.
Crystal clear photos January 2, 2009 This product was featured just before Christmas (2008) as a Gold Box deal. The price was excellent and I had been shopping for a digital frame in the 7 inch range so I ordered it.
I had read the reviews about it and most were good. The complaints seemed to be from those who had issues with figuring out how to load photos. Several complained about the software included, but I noted that in some of those complaints it was mentioned that you do NOT have to use the included photo software.
Anyway, I was impressed with the frame when it arrived. It did not look cheap like many of those I have checked out at the local electronics stores.
I had no trouble loading the photos into the frame using the USB connection from my computer. Furthermore, a few days later I purchased a SD memory card and added several more photos.
In addition, a 7 inch digital photo frame from Koby was purchased for my mother-in-law. The same photos were loaded onto that frame. I can say without a doubt that the quality in the Phillips frame is MUCH high, brighter, crisper, clearer, and most importantly larger than the 7 inch frame from Koby.
I am very satisfied with this purchase and would not settle for anything less than this frame after seeing the difference side by side with the Koby 7 inch frame.
I gave this product 4 stars because I reserve 5 star ratings for items that are truly exceptional, such as an Ipod touch. For me this product comes very close to that level. If it were an 8x10 frame at this price I would give it the coveted 5 star rating :)
Not user friendly December 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been fighting with this all morning trying to get rid of the default album and trying to add photos to a new album. While it's not difficult to add photos, I still can't figure out how to add a photo and have it automatically resize to fit the screen. According to the very poor instructions the frame will do this for you but it doesn't on some of my photos and you can't tell until you see the picture on the frame itself. By then it's too late and you end up deleting the picture from the frame. All in all the pictures that do work out are very nice on the frame but as far as getting them just the way you want it's almost impossible. If I could do it over again I would get something different.
Great frame December 22, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this as a gift and the recipient loved it. Easy and flexible to set up, easy to load pictures, beautiful picture. You might find another brand cheaper, but you won't find one any better. I liked that the picture is large enough to see from across the room.
Poor product on several fronts December 18, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This product comes with the poorest set of "instructions" I have seen in recent memory. The user interface of the PC software is completely non-intuitive. While I didn't lose photos as a previous reviewer claimed, they ended up being "hidden" where I didn't expect them. You can't use a PC keyboard to type an album name, you have to use their keyboard interface.
Battery life is also about 1 hour, after a full charge. I hope its defective, rather than the way it is supposed to work.
