What's with the cord & adapter comments? January 8, 2009 I've been researching large digital frames for almost a year. My priorities were a large size frame; a good quality picture, viewable from different angles; a 4:3 ratio, since that's the standard size I shoot; and a random shuffle mode. The Opteka 15" unit had all those & the majority of the reviews were positive.
The only thing I was worried about, based on many reviews on this site, was that the power adapter wouldn't fit into its compartment. Although the frame was a Christmas present, I opened it as soon as I received it to check it out. I removed the single screw holding the door over the rear adapter compartment, plugged the cord into the unit, slid the adapter into its slot in the compartment, and replaced the door. I have no idea what some folks are trying to do with that adapter that they can't get it in. It seems obvious that it needs to go in flat side down, and not with one of the larger dimensions upward. And regarding the comment about a 6 inch cord - mine has a 5 ft. cord.
I've been very impressed with the picture quality and operation so far. Personally, I think using the remote is a little more intuitive than using the buttons on the back. The picture quality remains a lot better than other brands I've seen when viewing from an angle. The only recommendation I would make is for some longer time settings in the shuffle mode.
All in all a very good unit.
Nice...While it works.. January 4, 2009 I've had several digital frames and this one was nice while it worked. Pictures looked great and remote was a neat touch. The adapter fits in a compartment in the back and hides nicely.
Unfortunately the frame suddenly stopped working after 6 months. I've tried to troubleshoot the problem but without success. I'm out of warranty and out of my money. I would say it's a nice frame, but cheap price in this situation means cheap quality. Skip over this frame and buy something with better quality.
Yes you can cover the adapter December 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just wanted to address a problem that was mentioned in the other reviews. The AC adapter can be plugged in to the unit and the cover can be closed. It isn't detailed in the instructions, but there is a (very) subtle hole for the cord to go through in the lower left of the cover. This way your AC adapter isn't hanging down like a giant black box, but is tucked neatly away inside the frame. The only drawback I see immediately for this product is that some photos are cropped, as another reviewer mentioned. I intend to use that person's fix to address the issue.
Gave it as an Xmas present but it wouldn't work. December 28, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
It looks nice, but it didn't work. The powercord arrangement is a joke. You have to unscrew the back and screw it back up again. The cords are about 6 inches long.
Great Frame for the price December 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased two of these, one for myself and one for my daughter. Was counting on the reviews being accurate, and they are! I am very pleased with my purchase.
The random is not totally random, and it does repeat the the third picture back quite often, and if you have a large number of photos loaded, it takes a while to get to all of them due to the repeating. I may change it to play in order to see if I like that better. It takes some fiddling to get the adapter in, but I found that when I turned the black box that goes in the compartment over, it fit fine.
The quality of the frame itself is surprisingly good. The miter joints are excellent, and you will be proud to display this in your home or office.
