UNRELIABLE SOFTWARE TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH January 8, 2009 I AM 68 YEARS OLD BUT I KNOW HOW TO SET UP AND MAINTAIN MY LOCAL WIRELESS NETWORK WITH 3 COMPUTERS. THE KODAK SOFTWARE IS SLOW AND UNRELIABLE. IT LOCKS YOU OUT FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. IF YOU HAVE 13,000 PHOTOS ON ONE HARD DISC ALONE IT WILL TAKE YOU FOREVER TO CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO SHOW. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A RANDOM WAY TO SHOW PHOTOS ON ANY OR ALL OF YOUR HARD DISCS LIKE A SCREEN SAVER WILL DO ON YOUR COMPUTER. LARGE NUMBER OF PHOTOS SIMPLY CONFUSES THE SOFTWARE. MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER ON YOUR NETWORK WILL CAUSE CONFUSION TO THE SOFTWARE. THE NETWORK WILL REQUIRE YOU TO CHOOSE ONE MACHINE TO READ. IT MAY SIMPLY BE A LACK OF MEMORY ON THE KODAK FRAME THAT WASTES TIME. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF KODAK IS TO SELL YOU THINGS ON THEIR WEB SITE.
IF YOU WANT TO PAY THEM FOR SENDING YOUR DATA ELSEWHERE OR COPY PHOTOS SENT TO YOU BY OTHERS,YOU CAN WASTE ALOT OF TIME. LIFE IS SHORT . PUTTING A MEMORY STICK INTO THE FRAME TO COPY TO THE INTERNAL MEMORY IS SLOW AND TEDIOUS.HAVING A SMALL FAST COMPUTER NEAR THE FRAME TO CONNECT WITH A USB CORD IS MORE REALISTIC DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR LIBRARY. MAYBE THE NEXT ITERATION WILL MAKE THINGS EASIER. I HAVE ANOTHER FRAME THAT TRIES TO DO LESS AND DOES IT WELL.
Nice Christmas Gift January 7, 2009 I bought this frame as a Christmas present for my sister. She is very happy with it. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is excellent. It is a nice size for display on her living room end table.
Very Nice Digital Frame January 7, 2009 Everything you would expect. No issues installing pics, just slide in card or flash drive.
Nice photo frame January 6, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
nice product; bought it and did not install all the junk software on my computer - loaded up a 2 G card and it works just fine.
Photo Viewer January 6, 2009 The KODAK Photo-Viewer is an excellent product. It provides the opportunity to see your photos without the need for albums. It does require the use of a digital camera and access to a personal computer (or lap-top). There are commercial stores (such as Ritz Photo) that provide the service to transfer your old negative cartrisges to digital images, but the price is still prohibitive ($0.75 each) We are pleased with the 10" unit.
