Sony Digital Picture Frame January 7, 2009 I ordered this for my Mom's birthday. My son looked at several different sites to look at reviews so we could determine which was the best one to buy. When I received this I was very happy since the quality of how the pictures looked was very good. Also it was easy to use. I always liked Sony products and this confirmed it again.
Just what I wanted January 6, 2009 I was hoping for a small picture frame for beside my bed that also had a clock function. This fills the bill
Works as advertised, but . . . January 6, 2009 The frame was well packaged and the instructions were quite well done (as one would expect from Sony). I managed to set it up and started to use it quite quickly. So, no major issues on initial setup and config. I gave this frame 4 stars only, because the 8" diagonal size leaves a lot to be desired. Unless you take pictures with this frame in mind or, you crop your pictures to better focus on the main subject, the pictures will look quite small and hard to see. This is specially evident when showing pictures in portrait (vertical). I would not buy another one of these and would not recommend it to others unless they have seen it physically and know what they are buying. Finally, I think this was a bit expensive for the size. Digital displays have dropped quite a bit in price and I would expect the same will happen to this vintage of display. The next gen of these will probably be bigeer and less expensive. Better wait for now . . .
Everything I read about the Sony DPF-D80 is true! January 6, 2009 Everything I read about the Sony DPF-D80 is true! It's extremely easy to load pictures into the frame's internal memory - either by inserting a media card directly from the camera or by using a USB cable from the PC. The presentation of photos on the frame is very clear and sharp. As others have written, I don't like it that once the frame is turned off, then re-started, the order of picture presentation always starts with the first picture you loaded. Guess they have to begin somewhere, huh? My order was filled very quickly and I received the frame less than a week after I ordered it. Practically all digital frames cost more than they should but overall, it's a great frame and I'm pleased with my purchase.
Bought 4 for gifts January 6, 2009 After purchasing an inexpensive digital frame at a department store and being very disappointed at the fuzzy quality of the photos when displayed, I was very pleased with Amazon's information available to educate me on what to look for in digital frames. I chose the 8" Sony digital frame because I wanted the 4:3 ratio so my photos would not be stretched to the 16:9 ratio that the 7" frame had. The quality of the photo display on the Sony was very rich, clear and impressive. I have recommended Sony digital frames to friends after seeing their quality.
