Bunko book January 24, 2010 S. Barth (FL) I bought this book for my 19 year old cousin who doesn't know what to do for his life. I figured this would at least give him a little direction in a form he can appreciate - I like manga as well (being in the younger generation and all). The reviews I read on this book and author were promising and the price was just right for a just out of college student's budget. I'd like to read this just to see what tidbits the author has - I may have to buy one for myself!
Outstanding book for all ages. January 11, 2010 Jason J. Smith I wanted to buy this for my nephew in college who doesn't know what he wants to do but I figured I better buy a copy for myself first--glad I did. I read it and loved it and so did my nephew. I gifted this book to several of my friends with teenage kids but it's also a great read for any age and anyone despite where they are in their careers. It reminds you in a fun way what is really important and how we can sharpen our skills and focus in what we do. Buy it, read it, and pass it on.
If you don't like to read, start with this Book December 3, 2009 ASH (Bahrain) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I Liked this book for many reasons. Mainly;
1. Its easy and nice to read, specially for people like me (i.e. who don't like to read) it will be a good start for them.
2. This book is recommended for students who are planning to select their work carrer and who hate their work and feedup of their current job and want to know what to do.
Highly recommended even for pleasure/fun reading.
Great at any stage of career! November 24, 2009 K. Jaramillo 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this book, and my teenaged son loved it, as well. Excellent work -- highlighting important questions to ask yourself when choosing a career, or to ask at any career stage to know whether you're on track to achieve your goals. The comic book style presentation makes it an especially fun read.
Good for what is it, but less than it claims to be September 28, 2009 Larry R (Centerport, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Being quite the fan of Daniel Pink, I was excited to see that a new work of his had appeared. The book is a quick and easy read, the illustrations are fun, and it definitely contains a number of important career gems. HOWEVER, it falls far short of being "The last career guide you'll ever need". The book explores *what* to do, but says nothing about *how* to do it, which is just as important. Perhaps that would be more difficult to communicate in a short manga work.
All in all, this is probably worthwhile. Calibrate your expections appropriately, and you won't be disappointed. But don't expect to read this and have all your career problems melt away - there is a LOT that needs to be covered that isn't touched on here.
